~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You heard me before,
Yet you hear me again,
Then I die,
'Till you call me again.
I woke up with my late, (Dutch by birth), 'aunty' on my mind...long-lost visions swirled around me, in the missing sunrise that greeted me, I was a child again, awaiting the Saturday call of my aunty...her characteristics, intense perfume, and upright manner were all clear again, she was alive, and so was I in my younger form...
Those days in the late 1970's, early 80's which wakened me from the dream I had, -she breached that gap today, somehow, and entered my consciousness at around 7am. So, today, I'm hand-in-hand with a multitude of memories which had been covered with daily, weekly, yearly living...
those vistas I knew like the back of my hand, which has now finally tuned over to face me again.
those teatimes with her and my late grandmother...which taught me so much about respect and life, as well as the joy of Dutch cakes.
those work ethics which she stuck to until her health briefly failed in her mid 90's, and took her away forever...she was a clock by which not only family could rely, but the chickens we kept in the garden also recognised this fact, rain or shine, snow or hail, she was there.
Aunty, I have not forgotten you, and no doubt you have not forgotten me, as you reminded me this morning. Thank you.
England won! And furthermore, played pretty well...indeed, that is the first time in the ten qualifying games, that England played well over 90 minutes, with spirit, and a will to win...with a confidence that showed they were the better team. It is curious indeed, that they played this well without Beckham, but that is pure observation only. The team need to do a LOT of re-thinking.
England top the group with a highly impressive 8 wins out of 10...funny how life is.
One year ago today...a great man died...I hope everyone can spare a moment to remember John Peel.
Recently, this week to be precise, I've had an irrational craving for shreddies...and settled on Asda's Malted Shreddies, which are doing the job perfectly, with fresh cold milk straight out of the fridge, and I'm made.
Last night I had Chinese spiced beef and before that, at lunch, Thai spiced frikadellan.
Blog buddies...what's your craving today?
What am I?
If you break me
I do not stop working,
If you touch me
I may be snared,
If you lose me
Nothing will matter.
