Does this ever happen to you? It does to me, but I fear it is medicine related
However, there are many superstitious beliefs attached to this sensation;
Pliny spoke of it as a universal notion of warning, from others far away, while W. Perkins in his 'works' spoke of tingling in the right ear being unlucky, while in the left ear "contrarily good lucke".
In "Dissertation upon Superstition" by Werenfels, it's said that tingling in right ear will bring cheerfulness, whereas in the left ear, it'll bear sadness.
In "Folklore Record" by Cornwall, there is credit to the right cheek burning of someone praising you, whilst on the left side, it is quite the contrary, as someone will be speaking ill of you. It adds, "a knot in the apron string will cause the slanderer to bite his or her tongue".
However, on a happier note, if the cheeks burn on the left or right at night, it is good...so we can all sleep well tonight.
