I have permitted myself the need to inform you all, Ed's friends, of his awful and terrible plight this year.

His condition fell sharply, as you know, but more recently he suffered a quite apalling brain hemorrhage that has left him vegatative. The news, and sight, as a father seeing his own son so gravely ill is something I cannot put into words. Indeed, I have been unable to speak for several weeks.

A few of us are endeavouring to preserve his memory and work, which is the least we can do.

I know he would like me to do this for all of you, as well as spare a special loving mention of his dearest Kiki.

I often think of Ed and smile about the exchanges we had (both as la_spice and Dafter!). I am so saddened by this news and my thoughts are with you at this dreadful time.

This is very sad. Thank you for letting us know. Please know that you and he are in my thoughts, and I'm sure everyone here. I have had some good moments in the past talking with Ed here.

This is such sad news. I was only thinking of him the other day as we hadn't seen him around. So sorry , must be so hard for you right now. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Why do such cruel things happen? I'm so very sorry for you. Is there a ray of hope for Ed?

Long ago (2005/06) I used to have a different blog here (cheques-and-balances) and I had the privilage of being one of Ed's friends. His posts were always so poetic, peaceful and tranquil. But also joyous, despite his condition. He put up a fight and I do hope there is a chance he can be back.

I looked up his dearest friend Kiki. She hasn't been blogging for a while, she probably doesn't know. Perhaps sending her Personal Massage could help?

Hi my dear Norm:

I'm glad you did this post warning Ed's friends.

Are very sad knews and i'm speachless about it as i already told you. I just wish the best for him, and he doesn't deserves this at all. Also you have been through a lot so please Norm do take good care of yourself please.

I know it is early but i have medicines to take now, at this hour yes!!! And others later.

As you know i came from the Hospital only last week, feeling week and a bit sad about what they diagnosed me, but iºm fighting it, plus i'm recovering, yet, but yes at home now doing the treatments at home too..well some i need to go to the Hosp. to do them.

That's why i haven't blogged, and yet after arrived from the Hospital , because i'm recovering, a bit down BUT yes now i start to feel stronger. Though today i have to be seen by a Doctor at 8ham.
Anyway lets hope i don't need ops.

Lots care, love and close hugs for you and our dear Ed. Youºre both are always in my thoughts, so Norm please as i already told you donºt enter in any depression, stress or so, be strong, Ed loves you so much and loves LIFE too, he needs you and he knows you love him more than everything, i know that and you know that too.
We keep in touch, and iºm by you both as always, count w-me whenever you neeed Norm.

PS. I forgot my pw for log in, but soon iºl ask them another because i would like and want to re'start blog again now i can. Lots kisses and ((((((( HUGS )))))))

Dear, so dear, Ed's loving father,

No, I cannot imagine how you feel...

yet your words are so clear.

I thank you so much, like all here, to have had the stregth to write what you did to let us know and therefore feel near to Ed and you and his brother.

As a mother and a fan as well as just a simple human being, I became Ed's blog friend and will always remain.

He always accompanies me in my thoughts ?
With me he travels over the Atlantic where I so much wanted to take him to be healed. I was so possessive and and arrogant, maybe just concerned like all those that so easily were charmed by his bravery and always smiling thought for each, whatever happened to him.

I still feel concerned right now. We all do.
My family asks me news of Ed in Cuba. this I will have to answer newt time I'm with them.

Thanks to Ed I flew overs the Wensum following it's bents unto the sea. I imagined him on his bycicle with his dog running along.

I met Ed on his blog when there was no dog and no bycicle but I read backwards to learn more about him.

His drawings I will certainly go back to, although I still feel their extreme vivid perfection and soul.

His poems I understand you want to save and perpetuate when you have strength to do so.

I dare sign in to do whatever might help to make this possible.

Yes, make this blog walk like Ed would have liked and willed to do himself on his two feet, thrushing away any doubt that could submerge him all along his terrible reality nigthmare.

Kiki was certainly a huge and wonderful link to Ed's world, introducing me far beyond a lap screen. But then I was able to text him a little to get closer by and with him during during seconds while he suffered, too much.

On he believed or obliged himself to believe so, as not to hurt all those he loved starting with you,his father, his mother too grieved, and brother so helpless inspite of all love pouring.

And now I find out here, with all other blog friends, that Kiki is in bad shape. I imagined silence as a sign of working on in life, with love and happiness inspite of all the nuisance that comes with it... Never did I imagine something wrong was going on.

In silence I imagined Ed, limbs so thin but mind so strong needing time to start moving, working hard unto his aim, walk again.

Words are useless yet ...
necessary to be by you and by Ed.

Please, let me in in your project. I won't say good bye.

Ed still needs you as you need him... wether he answer or not your loving call.

Please count me in. I want to help Ed's achievement and his family's sorrow.

Hope clings to us all as you can see.

Without, nothing would matter But Ed still matters and always will.

Lucky was I to fall unto his page when moondancer called on blog solidarity to go close by Ed taking too much. And thus I remember LifeLessons gone with his own posts, 'do not know where.

Please, let us know how we can help to continue Ed's creation.

In every gentle breeze I will hear/feel Ed's lovely words in poetry entangled and stretching far, so far.

I will come back as I'm used to, when a computer allows me to do so wherever I be. I always expected to read a little post of Ed...

I am shocked and saddened to hear your news. I am sorry that this is late however. You and Ed have been in my thoughts for some time now hence seeking this post out.

Sometimes words feel inadquate but know that I wish you, Ed and your family strength in a spiritual sense. Strength, light and the Sun!

He is not alone and He is always around.

Hi Norm. Ed was one of my first friends here on blog.co. He responded to my post about chopping wood as I talked about how I loved to make kindling. He said that he had so many fond memories of cutting wood with his dad and they were precious times for him to remember.

Don't know why I said that, but it stuck in my mind. I kept in touch with Ed for a long time and send pms sometimes when he wasn't blogging just to let him know he was being thought of.

His posts were inspirational and lightened the blog world and I cant praise him enough as a beautiful, open, positive person.

So I'm sending you warm wishes and signing off as I always did for Ed, as he signed off to me - Your friend in the East.

Hi Norm

Thank you for letting us know what has happened, words cannot convey the sadness at such a sad turn of events for Ed and for you and the family.

Ed has been a great inspiration to many of us here, and will continue to be for we will always remember his long and hard fight in which many others would have given up, yet he never did.

I came across Ed's blog as a result of Avrilo's post - I am truly sorry to hear what has happened. I've read through your son's blog and yes, what everyone says is true, he really is inspirational. The world will be a poorer place without his posts.
